FOSTER NEIGHBOR TRAINING SAMPLES
We offer the simplest, most direct volunteer opportunity for those who want to help kids in foster care. Our carefully-developed Foster Neighbor training obliterates myths and sets expectations with clear simplicity for new volunteers. It takes less than two hours, and it's totally online. As you consider working with us in your foster care program, browse our training samples, and contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions.
The training portal is part of the package when you bring this program to your foster families. Click here to get started or click here to join us for a live Foster Neighbor Conference.
MODULE ONE MAKES THE CASE.
Why is supporting one foster family the most in-depth way to help kids in foster care? Why can you, as a Foster Neighbor, make the difference? And what's in it for you?
Eight interactive Q&A sections throughout the training require Foster Neighbors to explain, in their own words, their responsibilities & understanding. Built-in surveys allow us to constantly improve the program, & quickly answer questions from new volunteers.
SECTION TWO IS STEP-BY-STEP.
Covering the nuts and bolts of how to support the family through meal delivery, we explain other ways to help (if desired). We like to make expectations simple and clear.
SECTION THREE IS FOSTER CARE MANNERS.
Continuing to set expectations, we cover foster care & trauma 101, etiquette for interacting with foster families, and tackle common myths and setbacks for new volunteers.
SECTION FOUR KEEPs KIDS SAFE.
We explain the rules and laws for further training/background checks for those who want to increase their support to babysitting or driving. We also prioritize sexual abuse prevention by making sure each member of the match is aware of red flags, and how to report and seek treatment for any form of abuse. We mail a copy of the below poster to each foster family, requiring them to post it prominently in their home.
The CONTRACT WRaps it up.
Finally, the Family Helper agrees to their responsibilities, and submits any final questions.
If you'd like to chat with us about bringing the Foster Together matching program to your agency, county, or community, please email us at email@example.com. We are happy to train staff in any state to make matches for families in under two hours a month!
