WHAT IS FOSTER TOGETHER?
Many hands make light(er) work.
WHO IS BEHIND FOSTER TOGETHER?
Foster Together Colorado is led by Hope Forti, her husband Kyle, and their kid-loving friends. While volunteering with neglected (and sometimes abused) kids, they realized that the stereotypes of kids "in the system" masked the fact that they're just kids: sometimes unbearably difficult, sometimes heart-breakingly sweet, always deserving love.
Previously unaware of the need for foster care parents, they quickly decided it was time to be a family for kids who needed one. Their first year was a crash-course in "the broken system," especially the lack of homes, lack of realistic training, lack of practical help--all leading to foster parents rapidly quitting before they complete their second year. In every case, Hope and Kyle found themselves wishing for more people to confidently share the load of the daily tasks and emotional work of foster parenting.
After fostering four kids and reunifying two with their original families, Hope and Kyle started Foster Together Colorado to take the guess-work out of how the greater community can support foster families. Foster care is not impossible: it is difficult. As with most things, more people caring and intelligently helping an effort yields a better result. When kids are involved, everyone should want a better result. Ultimately, they hope to build "extended families" between neighbors to share the load of raising whole and happy Colorado children.
WHAT IS YOUR PLAN?
Our Goal: To normalize foster parenting by supporting foster parents. Said Another Way: To tell the story of how "someone like you" makes foster care work in real life, while inviting the general public into simple, clear support roles for foster parents.
WITH FIVE AVENUES to attract the general public to stories of foster care, we'll INTRODUCE Colorado folks into their choice of support actions:

THE BEST TRAINING
What's more important than experience working with real people? Certified for therapeutic care, our founders have fostered children in Denver and Colorado Springs, newborn to age twelve. They are mentors to new foster parents, often hosting recruitment and support events in their home. Appointed by El Paso County judges, they have advocated for seventeen children. Their greatest joy in foster parenting is to reunify kids with their original families, and continuing playdates, birthday parties, and school plays as the kids grow up.
In May 2017, First Lady of Colorado Robin Hickenlooper and Reggie Bicha, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). recognized five Colorado foster families, including Foster Together Colorado founders, Kyle and Hope Forti.
Foster Together Colorado's team members hold current careers in public relations, networking, and content marketing. Our co-founder Kyle Forti owns DCO, in the top 13% of PR firms in Denver. Hope Forti launched content marketing strategy for a branch of Compassion International and most recently ran marketing and donor relations for efforts against spiritual abuse. We're used to getting the word out for nonprofits, small businesses, and political causes throughout Colorado. We can't wait to overhaul the public image of foster care and make kids' needs impossible to ignore.
